2025-2026 Academic Year Summer School Announcement

Students who wish to take courses in the Summer School are required to pay attention to the following matters.

Students Taking Courses at Sakarya University

1. Students in graduation status (those who have completed eight semesters and have no failed or incomplete courses in their curriculum except for Internship I, Internship II, Design, and Graduation Project courses) may take Internship I, Internship II, Design, and Graduation Project courses during the summer school.

In order for the Design and Graduation Project courses to be taken together, they must be conducted by different advisors.
Students who take Internship I, Internship II, Design, or Graduation Project courses at Sakarya University cannot take courses from another university during the same summer term.

2. Students with a GPA of 3.00 or above may take courses offered in the summer school, as approved (Senate Principles Article 7-2 and Summer School Regulation Article 11).

Course registration dates: 1-2-3 July 2026
Course start date: 6 July 2026
Submission date: 11 September 2026
Exam dates: 14-15 September 2026

Applications must be submitted in person to the department secretariat using the attached “Make-up Course Registration Form.”

Important Notes

Students may benefit from the Summer School only after successfully completing courses such as Graduation Project, Design, or Internship, and only if they are eligible for the “3-course exam” right. However, students cannot apply for the Summer School if the courses to be taken in the three-course exam have never been taken before or if they were previously failed with a DZ grade.

Students Taking Courses from Other Universities

  1. Students who wish to take courses from other universities during the summer term must apply via SABIS (https://obs.sabis.sakarya.edu.tr/) between 8 June – 17 July 2026.
  2. Course equivalency, learning outcomes, content compatibility, and ECTS/credit approval must be confirmed by the Department Head before the summer school begins at the host university.
  3. Interdisciplinary and university elective courses may be taken from all departments of the specified universities.
  4. Course transfer procedures are conducted under Articles 9-10-11 of the Sakarya University Summer School Regulation.

Article 9: A student may take a maximum of 12 credit hours in total (internal and external combined) without schedule conflicts.

Article 10: Students may take previously failed, not taken, or grade-improvement courses. The latest grade received is valid. Summer school grades do not affect the top 10% ranking.

Article 11: Students who have successfully completed all courses up to their current semester with a GPA of 3.00 or higher may take upper-level courses.

  1. Students cannot take Graduation Project, Design, Internship, laboratory, or similar courses at another higher education institution.
  2. Students enrolled in English programs must take foreign-language courses in the same language during summer school.
  3. Grades of students who take courses at other universities without department approval will not be considered.
  4. For credit transfer, the transcript of the summer school courses must be submitted to the department before the 2026-2027 Fall Semester registration period.

Additional Important Notes

  • Course compatibility in terms of ECTS is required.
  • Courses taken from foundation (private) universities must be delivered face-to-face; online courses will not be accepted.
  • Grades from other universities will be transferred as letter grades; numerical grades will be converted according to Sakarya University’s grading scale.
  • Approved course applications will be announced after evaluation. Students must complete registration at the host university after approval.
