TURKISH DEFENDERS, a team of the National Technology Development Society (MİLTEG) (Milli Teknoloji Geliştirme Topluluğu) operating under Sakarya University, has been named champion of the 11th Model Satellite Competition organised by Türksat at the Aksaray Hisar Firing Range.
Among 308 teams from 8 countries, the team successfully completed every stage of the competition and finished first in the final with a score of 101.47 points, exceeding the maximum base score.
In the final flight, the model satellite was launched to an altitude of approximately 1,870 metres and carried out the full mission scenario as specified: safe descent with the carrier, separation, active rotor-controlled descent, uninterrupted telemetry to the ground station, a 10-second hover at 200 metres with successful IoT telecommand relay, and a soft landing. In total, the system completed 18 tasks and 3-4 operational sub-tasks.
The team's performance was commended by the jury and Türksat specialists, who noted that all competition requirements had been fully and flawlessly met in practice.
